Originally from Milwaukee, WI, the Esquires performed with Betty Moorer before moving to Chicago in 1966 and signing with Bill Sheppard’s Bunky Records. Their debut single, “Get on Up,” reached #11 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #3 on the R&B chart. Members included Millard Edwards, Bill Lordan, Alvis Moorer, Gilbert Moorer, Sam Pace, and Shawn Taylor.
